Scented Pelargoniums

Scented Pelargoniums make rapid growth and are stunning plants for a summer display in large, outdoor containers. Many have a semi trailing habit so can also be used for hanging baskets or pedestal pots and the flowers are excellent for pollinators. We love to fill half barrels full to the brim adjacent to a garden bench where we can reach out and touch the scent.  They also make fabulous houseplants which is good to know as they do need to be kept frost free over the winter.  The rose and lemon varieties are wonderful to use as culinary plants for sugars, jams, jellies, cordials and cakes. Try laying leaves at the bottom of a sponge cake! Scented Pelargoniums are also used to produce aromatic essential oils which are used medicinally in addition to the wonderfully calming scent.
